  • about Urban Roots

It started with a single field, 15 teenagers, and a powerful vision: using urban farms as classrooms to grow tomorrow's leaders. Today, Urban Roots creates welcoming spaces where young people discover their leadership potential while growing food that nourishes their neighbors. Through paid opportunities on our two Austin farms, young people lead volunteer groups, make meaningful decisions, and create positive change in their community. They gain hands-on experience in every aspect of farming. Here, young people don't just participate—they lead, building deep connections with the land and each other while contributing toward a more just food system for Austin.
